Trips , what do they really mean?

Telling yo momma jokes, eating food listening to music and catching a couple of Z’s are normal things that happen during a long bus ride. At Constitution high are Trips have came a long way start with first annual trip to Washington D.C. This trip and many others had tie into subjects the students were studying at the time. It related to students visually but more importantly it related to the themed of each year, which are 9th grade -city, 10th grade -state .11th grade – national and, 12th grade- International.

Con high (Constitution High) first trip was organized by Mr. Brasof and Mr. Ackerman. The Trip took place at no other then Washington D.C. stated Ms. Madhi, an 11th grade AP American History teacher. There the students were exposed to the government and how it works. Which tie into their Constitution course the 9th grade was taking. Later that year that class would be going to New York city which the first founding class would plan themselves. They plan what they were going to do, what they were going to see and even what they were going to eat. There the 9th grade learn about hip-hop and where it originated from in New York. Now both these trip have become annual for 9th graders.

While focusing on pass and present tips like the Gettysburg and the Fredrick Douglass museum for the 10th grade. Mr. Brasof gave a comment in which he said hopefully for 12th grader they could go to Afghanistan, but only a small group would be able to go. However he said that he definitely wants to go outside of the country, also giving though that they will go with the theme of the 12th grade.

The 11th grade have not been on trip this year because as one teacher said “ they haven’t been on a trip because the lack of supports from PTA the teacher quoted that they was not supporting the school on this because they thought the 11th grade was not ready enough to take on an over night trip”. So far alternative for the 11th grade will go to Washington D.C to again to see the national women ‘s museum or to Mt Vermont to see George Washington house.

Giving though the lack of support from the PTA the funding for the trips haven’t, been affected due to the support from organizations such as Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History has kept money around. Being so the only with getting the money is know how to spend it equal with every class at mind. So the bigger the school gets the less money to spend equal.

For most students they enjoy going on trips. One 9th grade student, who went on the Washington D.C, said “that the best part of going on is the bus ride because you’re with friends and you play bus ride games”. Another student named Shnai Amos a 10th grade stated that I like trips because we go to real interesting places and most of the time we have fun.” But what happens to students that chooses not to go on the trips. Do they stay home or go to school and have nothing to do? Well that is more of a personal decision why a student does not go on a trip after all it is their choice but if the do decide to go to school the will have work that is require to do.

Trips are like school dances or fundraisers they are one of the fun parts of school. They can be hard do but they give a lot of memories that you well take with you for a lifetime. Just remember, historic society meets every Thursday they the ones that are trip planners now. You never know the trip may suggest maybe the next trip they will plan.
